Benjamin Swanson is a Photographer who specialises in the study of materials. He is inspired and energised by the sculptural qualities of the material world, and believes any object has the potential to become a beautiful still life. His work is currently concerned with reconnecting the commercial object back with the world it affects.
Coming from a background in Sculpture and Installation Benjamin moved into Still Life photography at Nottingham Trent University, where he recieved a First Class BA Hons. He was a finalist in the Magnum emerging photographers award, as well as being recognised as 'One to Watch' by The British Journal of Photography.
A Masters on Contemporary Photographic Art at The University Of Westminster solidified Benjamin’s specialisation of the study of objects and Materials. Coupled with his growing presence in Advertising photography, Benjamin has established his works within contemporary fields of lens based practice and commerce.
To name a few, Benjamin’s artworks have been exhibited in Switzerland, New York, Mexico, Format Festival, Krakow Photo festival and London Photo.
Benjamin has established himself as a commercial photographer, shooting for clients such as No7, Nike, Louis Vuitton, Wallpaper*, Port Magazine, John Lewis, Samsung, Uber, Aviva, Adidas, Selfridges and many more. Benjamin recently won a Webby award for his work for Samsung in collaboration with Dezeen.
